The Zealana yarn brand has been acquired by Extraordinary Yarns ­– one of Australasia’s leading wholesalers of knitting yarns.

After almost ten years establishing, refining and promoting the luxury hand knitting brand internationally, Woolyarns Limited announced the sale of Zealana on 1^st November 2017.

Zealana Yarn – an Exciting Addition to Our Collection

Extraordinary Yarns currently supply a wide range of iconic UK brands including Sirdar, Sublime and King Cole to retailers across both Australia and New Zealand, the addition of Zealana to their portfolio is exciting for the company.

Extraordinary Yarns bring decades of experience in hand-knitting yarn to Zealana and are renowned for personalised customer service.

Acquiring the Zealana brand is an exciting new chapter for the company and our team are looking forward to working closely with Woolyarns and new retailers around the globe.

The newly formed partnership between the companies will ensure Zealana’s high quality hand knitting yarns made from blends of brushtail possum, merino wool and other fibres will continue to be made by the New Zealand yarn manufacturer.

Woolyarns Marketing Manager, Jimad Khan, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying “this new relationship means both retailers and consumers benefit greatly [from the changes], all Zealana yarn blends remain unchanged and the change of ownership allows Woolyarns to focus resources on product development and innovation, which is what we specialise and excel in.”

New developments and yarn innovations from Woolyarns will be introduced by Extraordinary Yarns into the Zealana collection in the future.

Zealana – a New Base in Melbourne

The acquisition of the brand will see Extraordinary Yarns adopt the full collection of Zealana yarns and pattern books.

Our purpose-built warehouse in Australia will be the new home for the yarns. The warehouse is based 70km outside of Melbourne, Victoria and is perfectly placed to supply both existing and new retailers around Australasia and beyond.

Consumers should see increased accessibility through the Extraordinary Yarns network of retailers, while existing distributors have signalled eagerness to work with us as the new owners.
